PBI FKIP Study Program Students Carry Out Practical Courses in Library Management and PIE Together with Practical Lecturers
Indonesian Language Education Study Program, UMM – Fifth and seventh semester students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program (PBI) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Muuhammadiyah University Malang (UMM) carry out practical courses on Library Management and Educational Information Management with practitioner lecturers. Wahyu D. Pramana, S.Hum., S.IP., as a practitioner lecturer provided material on the physical preservation of library materials and ancient manuscripts. Mr. Wahyu, his nickname, revealed that practical activities include caring for ancient manuscripts, using Japanese tissue care media and chemicals, making book catalogues, making manuscript boxes, and procuring library materials. The practical activities in the Library Management and Educational Information Management courses took place over six meetings. Mr. Arif Setiawan, M.Pd., as Head of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program FKIP UMM said that in the new curriculum there must be collaboration with practitioner lecturers. “In implementing the new curriculum, there are several courses that require collaboration with practitioner lecturers. “So the lectures are divided into two sessions, namely theory class sessions for six meetings and practical classes for six meetings,” said Mr. Arif Setiawan. “This teaching program with practitioner lecturers is to support improving the quality of learning so that it is not just theory. “So the point is to balance theory and practice,” he concluded.

Indonesian Language Education, UMM – Eldelafimeta, the only student from the Indonesian Language Education Study Program FKIP UMM who is already preparing to do a thesis trial even though it is still in the first semester. The story of Eldelafimeta, who is familiarly called El, is quite rare. Why not, El, who just entered college in the odd semester of 2023, is already preparing to do a thesis trial via the thesis equivalency route. The thesis equivalence program has indeed become a superior program in the Indonesian Language Education Study Program FKIP UMM. However, El’s story is the most unique and interesting. El has published books that have been read up to 17.6 million times by readers. He said that his hobby of writing started in 2018, but peaked when he was hit by confusion during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, his writing which was uploaded on the online platform, namely Wattpad, received a very positive response from readers. Not long after, his writing went viral on Tiktok social media. El, who at that time thought that her hobby was just for fun, really didn’t expect it to go that viral. That’s where his journey to becoming a book writer began. “I also don’t know why my writing went viral on Tiktok. “That momentum made me think and finally decided to contact Coconut Books – a book publisher, to collaborate in preparing and making my first book,” he said as quoted by the UMM release. His happiness didn’t stop there, as it was a win for tat, it turned out that his work could be used as a substitute for his thesis. “I am grateful to UMM, especially the Indonesian Language Education Study Program, FKIP UMM, for appreciating my work. “Not only was it appreciated, I was even allowed to do a thesis trial using the thesis equivalence route,” concluded El. Mr. Arif Setiawan, M.Pd., Head of PBI FKIP UMM Study Program also gave a very positive response and appreciated the work of his students. “The story experienced by El is very unique. It was only the first semester that I was able to do my thesis examination with such a great work. “So after the trial, El only needs to complete the courses,” said Mr. Arif Setiawan.
Mahasiswa Prodi PBI FKIP Laksanakan Praktik Mata Kuliah Manajemen Perpustakaan dan PIE Bersama Dosen Praktisi
Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, UMM – Mahasiswa semester lima dan tujuh Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia (PBI) Fakultas Keguruan Dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Muuhammadiyah Malang (UMM) laksanakan praktik mata kuliah Manajemen Perpustakaan dan Pengelolaan Informasi Edukatif bersama dosen praktisi. Wahyu D. Pramana, S.Hum., S.IP., selaku dosen praktisi memberikan materi tentang peletarian fisik bahan perpustakaan dan naskah kuno. Bapak Wahyu, sapaan akrabnya mengungkapkan bahwa kegiatan praktik diisi mulai perawatan naskah kuno, pemanfaatan media perawatan tissue jepang dan bahan kimia, membuat katalog buku, membuat kotak naskah, dan pengadaan bahan pustaka. Kegiatan praktik dalam mata kuliah Manajemen Perpustakaan dan Pengelolaan Informasi Edukatif tersebut berlangsung selama enam kali pertemuan. Bapak Arif Setiawan, M.Pd., selaku Kaprodi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia FKIP UMM mengatakan bahwa dalam kurikulum yang baru harus ada kolaborasi dengan dosen praktisi. “Dalam penerapan kurikulum baru, ada beberapa mata kuliah harus ada kolaborasi dengan dosen praktisi. Jadi pada pelaksanaan perkuliahan dibagi menjadi dua sesi yakni sesi kelas teori selama enam kali pertemuan dan kelas praktik selama enam kali pertemuan,” kata Pak Arif Setiawan. “Program mengajar bersama dosen praktisi ini sebagai penunjang peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran biar tidak teori-teori saja. Jadi intinya menyeimbangkan antara teori dan praktik,” pungkasnya.
